After this lesson, the learner should be able to:

• Understand that the terms 'translation' and 'shifting' have the same meaning
• Understand the horizontal shift ( translation) and the vertical shift (translation) of a hyperbola by looking at the graph or functional notation and be able to apply this to a problem
• Identify the transformation from the equation or functional notation 
• Understand how to deal with shifting in both directions in one question
